Export to Word Just Got Smarter: Track Changes & Comments Support
Still's .docx export now preserves your editor's revision history as Word Track Changes, and inline comments carry over as Word annotations. Perfect for writers who need to share drafts with editors working in traditional word processors.
Still is designed for focused writing, but we know that at some point, your words need to travel. For many writers, that means sharing a .docx file with an editor, publisher, or collaborator who works in Microsoft Word. Today's update makes that handoff seamless.
Track Changes Export
When you export a document from Still, your revision history is now preserved as Word Track Changes. Every edit, insertion, and deletion in your document's timeline appears in the exported file exactly as your editor would expect.
Comments Become Annotations
Inline comments in Still are automatically converted to Word annotations, complete with author attribution and timestamps. No more copying and pasting comments into separate emails or documents.
Style Preservation
We have also improved style fidelity during export:
- Font sizes, weights, and families are preserved
- Paragraph spacing and indentation match your Still layout
- Headings are mapped to Word heading styles (Heading 1, 2, 3)
- Block quotes become Word block quote styles
Coming Next
We are working on PDF export with the same level of fidelity, plus the ability to export directly to Google Docs.
Export is available to all users, including trial. Try it from the File menu in any document.
